Coventry City boss Frank Lampard reacts as Bournemouth narrow search to two-man shortlist
AFC Bournemouth have been credited with interest in Frank Lampard as they search for a new head coach, but the latest developments suggest the Coventry City boss is no longer a leading contender.
Lampard quickly entered the frame following confirmation that Andoni Iraola is set to depart, yet he now appears to have slipped down the pecking order.
Reports indicate that Kieran McKenna of Ipswich Town and former RB Leipzig manager Marco Rose are the two primary names under serious consideration. While Iñigo Pérez of Rayo Vallecano has also been mentioned, attention now appears to be firmly elsewhere.

This update will be well received by Coventry supporters, with the club on the verge of securing a return to the top flight. A recent draw against Sheffield Wednesday has left them comfortably positioned in the automatic promotion places, holding a significant cushion over the chasing pack.
Victory against Blackburn Rovers on Friday, or failure for Millwall to beat Queens Park Rangers, would mathematically confirm promotion to the Premier League.
With four fixtures still to play, focus will then shift toward clinching the EFL Championship title. Given Coventry’s strong position, it is unsurprising that Lampard has attracted attention, particularly after elevating his reputation since taking charge in November 2024.
Earlier in the year, discussions reportedly began with owner Doug King regarding a potential contract extension. However, Lampard has remained non-committal about his future, stressing that his full attention is on football matters and his current role.
That stance suggests he is unlikely to be distracted by external links, with no clear indication that he is actively seeking a move away from Coventry despite the recent speculation.
