Aston Villa consider selling promising winger amid growing transfer interest
Aston Villa are prepared to part ways with young winger Tommi O’Reilly as interest intensifies from Oxford United, Portsmouth and Huddersfield Town.
The 22-year-old has enjoyed an impressive loan spell at Crewe Alexandra in League Two, featuring 49 times this season and contributing to 21 goals, including seven he scored himself.

O’Reilly, known for his flair and creativity, drew comparisons to Manchester City’s Phil Foden during his early days in Villa’s academy, where he played a role in their FA Youth Cup triumph in 2021. His performances also caught the attention of then-manager Steven Gerrard, who brought him into the senior setup.
Since then, he has gained valuable experience through loan moves in Spain, as well as spells with MK Dons, Shrewsbury Town and Crewe, helping him develop with consistent first-team football.
This season, he has shown durability and consistency, starting 45 league matches for Crewe and earning a nomination for the League Two Player of the Month award in March.
Villa are believed to value him at around £1 million as they aim to generate funds to reinvest in Unai Emery’s squad, and they are willing to consider offers from interested clubs, particularly Huddersfield and Oxford.
His standout performances have also attracted attention from the Republic of Ireland national team setup.
