Wrexham A.F.C. confirm departures with legendary scorer Hughes leaving club
Wrexham A.F.C. Women will part ways with all-time leading scorer Rosie Hughes this summer after confirming the striker’s contract will not be renewed.
The 30-year-old is one of seven players set to leave the newly crowned Adran Premier champions, alongside Neve Adams, Leah Burke, Abbie Iddenden, Carra Jones, Erin Lovett and Hannah Snape.
Hughes has been central to Wrexham’s rapid rise through Welsh football, helping the club climb from the Genero Adran North to top-flight champions for the first time in their history. During the promotion-winning season three years ago, she produced a remarkable return of 24 goals in just nine matches.

Despite starting only six league fixtures this campaign, Hughes still managed nine league goals, with only Katie Barker scoring more for the side.
She reached another landmark in October 2023 when she netted her 100th goal for Wrexham in only her 46th appearance, achieving the feat in a 3-1 victory over The New Saints F.C. Women.
Last November, Hughes became the first player since the women’s team was reformed in 2018 to make 100 appearances for the club. She celebrated the milestone in style by scoring four times in an 11-0 Welsh Cup victory against NFA.
The club have also confirmed the retirements of former captain Keren Allen and midfielder Mari Gibbard, while goalkeeper Chloe Ankers is stepping away from playing to focus on coaching duties.
Meanwhile, Barker, Jodie Bartle, Maria Francis-Jones and Lili Jones are already contracted for the 2026-27 campaign, with fresh deals offered to 10 additional members of the squad.
