Frank Lampard linked with dramatic Premier League switch after Coventry promotion triumph
Frank Lampard’s reputation has soared after steering Coventry City to the Championship title, and Crystal Palace are now considering him as a potential successor to Oliver Glasner.
Palace have reportedly approached Lampard over the possibility of taking charge at Selhurst Park, casting uncertainty over his long-term future with Coventry despite their recent promotion triumph.
The 47-year-old ended the Sky Blues’ 25-year exile from the Premier League by delivering the Championship crown, but that achievement has attracted interest from Palace as they prepare for Glasner’s expected departure.

According to reports from The Sun, Palace have already made contact with Lampard, whose previous Premier League managerial experience includes spells with Chelsea and Everton. Fulham are also said to admire him, although their situation depends on whether Marco Silva signs a new contract.
Lampard has additionally been linked with a possible third return to Chelsea and is believed to be weighing up his options, even as Coventry continue celebrating promotion.
Although Coventry secured the title, questions remain over their ability to establish themselves in the Premier League over the long term. Owner Doug King may not possess the financial power required to significantly strengthen the squad, and he has already acknowledged the possibility of losing Lampard this summer.
Lampard still has a year remaining on his current contract and Coventry are expected to offer improved terms. However, reports suggest King would not block a move should the manager decide to pursue another opportunity. Palace are understood to believe Lampard could build on the progress Glasner has delivered in south London.
The Eagles have maintained their Premier League status since 2013 and lifted the FA Cup last season. Glasner could yet leave on another high, with Palace set to face Rayo Vallecano in the Europa Conference League final in Leipzig later this month.
Glasner previously voiced frustration over Palace allowing key players such as Eberechi Eze and Marc Guehi to depart within a short period. Nevertheless, the club backed him in January with major spending, bringing in Brennan Johnson and Jorgen Strand Larsen for a combined £78million.
This season, Leeds United and Sunderland managed to avoid immediate relegation after promotion, ending a run of two consecutive years in which all three promoted clubs went straight back down to the Championship.
