The transfer portal has become a big deal in college sports, and West Virginia is no exception. Several players have put their names in the portal, which is a website that other schools can use to get in touch with them about transferring. WVSports.com will keep an eye on it. It is important to remember that just because a person is in the portal doesn’t mean they have to leave the program. It only means that schools can get in touch with them. The following is a list of the Mountaineers who are currently in the portal looking into the option to transfer. It also includes the names of those who have already moved and what that might mean for the current West Virginia football team. We will mostly be talking about football players on scholarship

Scruggs chose to go to West Virginia over Virginia Tech, Colorado, UNLV, and a few other schools that offered scholarships. Since Rich Rodriguez took over the school, the Mountaineers made an offer to the nickel back, who had 70 tackles and an interception for South Alabama in 2024. After starting his career at Washburn, where he didn’t record any stats, Scruggs went on to Central Missouri, where he played in 11 games and made 37 tackles. After that, Scruggs went to Hutchinson C.C., where he made 38 stops and picked off a pass. The student from Missouri has one more year to be eligible for college.

Following an official visit to school, Singleton made his decision to attend West Virginia. With 64 catches, the quick wide receiver scored two scores and gained 639 yards. Besides that, he ran for 23 yards on 6 attempts. Born in Florida, the player began his career at Akron and also played for Hutchinson C.C. He is still eligible to play for one more year.

Young Bear played in 32 games while at Tulsa. He became a starter in the last two games of his sophomore year and stayed there for all 12 games in 2024 as a left guard. The Oklahoma native has played more than 1,000 snaps in college and still has one season left on his eligibility. When he got to the portal, he chose West Virginia over a few other options.

Bowie was a great wide receiver at Martinsburg, and he committed to Concord right after high school. He would have a great season there in 2022, with 102 catches for 1,773 yards and 18 scores. He was in the running for the Harlon Hill Trophy. After that, Bowie went to Jacksonville State and played in 17 games over two seasons. Bowie played in all 14 games last year and caught 13 passes for 209 yards. After that, he chose to use the transfer link and went back to his hometown of Morgantown for his last two campaigns.

Barrick played in 30 games over the course of three years at Jacksonville State. He spent most of his time as a blocking tight end, where he played 428 of his 614 snaps. Barrick, who is from Martinsburg, has caught 9 passes for 102 yards over the course of his career. He had a season where he caught 6 passes for 70 yards. Barrick chose to spend his last year of college at West Virginia.
