“He is the best player in the league at the moment; that’s no wonder he rejected us last summer.” Pep disclosed that the player who rejected a proposal from Manchester City last summer has reached personal terms to join Arsenal in January.Despite the

high financial demands, CaughtOffside reports that Arsenal are contemplating a concrete January move to acquire Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz.During the previous transfer window, the Gunners bolstered the caliber of their midfield by acquiring Declan Rice and Kai Havertz. The former has been vacillated frequently between the no.6 and no.8 positions, contingent upon the opponent and game circumstances.

Thomas Partey’s injury-related absence has been mitigated by the presence of Jorginho; however, Caught Offside asserts that the latter could depart the club as early as January. A potential transfer to Saudi Arabia is a possibility for the former Atletico Madrid player.

In spite of the considerable demands, it has been reported that Luiz is the primary midfield target for Arsenal in January. The Gunners are poised to make a decisive move in the coming weeks, but bringing Villa to the negotiating table could require at least £60 million. In September of last year, Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta was eager to acquire the club’s premier midfielder, Luiz. Due to Partey’s injury, he was considered a backup plan, but their £25 million offer failed to convince Villa to sell.

The Brazilian was not a prominent member of the starting lineup at the time, but he ultimately signed a new contract with Villa. Since joining the squad under Unai Emery, he has become an indispensable member in all competitions.

He has been outstanding in the league this season, logging 2.4 tackles, 5.3 duels, and 6.4 recoveries per appearance. His name appears first on the team sheet. His contributions also include six goals and four assists.

Luiz, who is only 25 years old at the moment, would be an exceptional acquisition for Arsenal were they to acquire him. Villa may be reluctant to lose him in the middle of the season, given their Champions League qualification ties.

But if Arsenal are prepared to pay at least £60 million in January, their resolve could be severely put to the test.
