With a dramatic 11-9 walk-off victory in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Oklahoma State Cowboys eliminated the Georgia Bulldogs from the Athens Regional.

After this victory, the Cowboys will travel to face Duke on Sunday at a little after 5 p.m. CT.

The Blue Devils are undefeated so far in the Athens Regional; a pair of victories by the Pokes would be necessary to advance. As the ninth inning began, the Cowboys found a way to rally from a 9-7 deficit. The Bulldogs loaded the bases after two consecutive singles.

The game was then entered by freshman pitcher Matt Brown, who, on eleven pitches, struck out Branch, Jackson, and McCarthy. The bottom of the ninth inning began with a walk to Nolan Schubart, which allowed Kollin Ritchie to come up.

It was eight pitches until Ritchie tied the game at nine with a pitch that went out of the yard and over the right field fence.

The inning began with one out when Alex Conover reached on a fielder’s choice; the second out was Colin Brueggemann’s throwing error at second. Introducing Brock Thompson, a young freshman.

Two runs were scored when Thompson hit a shot over the left field fence. Brown threw a perfect inning, striking out three, to earn his first career victory.

After the game, Thompson had a 2-for-3 hitting performance with two RBIs, a walk, and an error.
