Dodgers Shock Fans by Signing Hidden Gem Pitcher…..

Gonsalves, aged 29 and hailing from San Diego, brings a wealth of experience, having participated in 10 major league games during his stints with the Minnesota Twins in 2018 and the Boston Red Sox in 2021. Notably, his major league appearances consist of four starts, all occurring with the Twins in 2018, resulting in a 2-2 record with a cumulative 6.21 ERA.

The entirety of Gonsalves’ 2023 season unfolded within the Chicago Cubs organization, where he contributed across four minor league levels, amassing a record of 1-1 with a 5.72 ERA in 22 appearances. This marked his first complete season since recovering from Tommy John surgery, a period that restricted his involvement to merely eight Triple-A games in 2022.

Before undergoing surgery, Gonsalves showcased an impressive pre-surgery repertoire, featuring a 93-mph fastball, complemented by a curveball and slider, as revealed by Statcast.

The addition of Gonsalves significantly bolsters the Dodgers’ organizational depth chart, addressing a conspicuous void. Currently, relievers Caleb Ferguson and Alex Vesia, alongside swingman Ryan Yarbrough, stand as the sole left-handed pitchers on the Dodgers’ anticipated major league roster. Following the offseason departure of Victor Gonzalez, the upper-minor league ranks lack left-handers with prior major league experience.

To further strengthen their pitching corps, the Dodgers had previously extended non-roster invitations to pitchers Daniel Hudson and Elieser Hernandez.
