Another key Leicester City player closing in on official departure
Another prominent Leicester City player looks set to be officially confirmed as departing the King Power Stadium in the near future. For sections of the club’s support, the news is unlikely to be met with disappointment some may even welcome it.
The soon-to-depart figure has come to symbolise both a flawed recruitment decision and a period when the club began to drift from its previously successful model.
Signed late in the summer 2022 transfer window, the defender raised early concerns among fans who saw his arrival as a warning sign. It will come as little surprise, then, that the player in question is Belgian centre-back Wout Faes.

Faes’ time at Leicester appears to be drawing to a close after a spell that, aside from the structured success under Enzo Maresca, was largely inconsistent and at times error-prone.
His signing marked a shift away from the club’s once-admired recruitment approach, replaced by a more reactive strategy that ultimately contributed to their relegation struggles.
The 28-year-old has spent recent months on loan at AS Monaco, and there is little expectation that he will return to the East Midlands. While he has shown signs of improvement in France, his Leicester tenure is more likely to be remembered for lapses in concentration than reliability at the back.
Reports indicate that Monaco are advancing discussions to make the move permanent, with an option to buy believed to be under serious consideration. Should the deal go through, it would formally end a partnership that many supporters feel had effectively run its course long ago.
For Leicester fans, his exit could represent a clean break from a difficult chapter, offering the club a chance to move on from the missteps of that turbulent 2022 transfer window.
