Over the past weekend, the Louisville Cardinals welcomed nine new recruits and received some great news immediately.
Three recruits committed to the Cardinals in the short time after their visit ended.

With 17 commitments and five 4-star recruits in their 2026 class, the Cardinals’ recruiting class of 2026 keeps surprising people across the country.

Jamarcus Whyce, a 4-star wide receiver, visited with Jeff Brohm and his staff on Sunday before committing to the Cardinals. Three-star tight end Nick Lautar will also join Whyce on the roster.

With Josiah Hope’s commitment earlier on Sunday, Louisville now has three commitments following their huge recruiting weekend. In terms of Kentucky recruits, Hope ranks fourth, and he is considered a 4-star talent. The Cardinals’ 2026 commitment class, which includes Whyce and Lautar, is now ranked ninth in the country with seventeen pledges, thanks in large part to 247Sports’ rankings.

Both players have shown their excitement and devotion to Louisville, and Whyce in particular has the potential to make a significant impact. He piled up an impressive number of tackles (64 total), sacks (seven), and tackles for loss (13.5) during his junior year.
The defensive tackle, who has four stars, is the thirteenth-best prospect from Ohio and the 29th-best defensive tackle in the whole class. He chose Louisville over some of the nation’s top programs, including Notre Dame, Tennessee, Auburn, Illinois, and even their in-state rival, the Kentucky Wildcats, in order to verbally pledge.

The 6-foot-5, 230-pound tight end known as Lautar is the 61st-best tight end in the 2026 cycle and the 46th-best prospect from Ohio. Despite competition from other schools, including Pitt, Baylor, and Kentucky, the Cardinals were able to verbally pledge to him.
