Wrexham’s race to the top takes a dramatic turn after huge setback
Wrexham have announced that influential midfielder Ben Sheaf will be sidelined for the remainder of the season due to injury.
Sheaf sustained the problem during the thrilling 5-3 victory over Ipswich at the weekend and was forced off shortly after the interval. The 26-year-old has been a key figure this campaign, featuring in 28 league matches and starting 24 of them.

Manager Phil Parkinson admitted the early signs were worrying despite the post-match celebrations. He revealed that Sheaf is expected to be out for around ten weeks after damaging his medial ligament, an injury suffered from what appeared to be a routine blocked tackle that awkwardly opened up his knee.
Parkinson described the setback as a significant blow but stressed that injuries are part of the game. He added that Sheaf will receive the best possible care as he begins his recovery, while the situation also presents an opportunity for others in the squad to step up.
