Wren Baker Reaches Out to West Virginia University Supporters After House Settlement

West Virginia is prepared for this new era of college athletics.

It’s a good thing that college sports will never be the same. Judge Claudia Wilken recently accepted the House v. NCAA settlement.
This means that schools will be able to pay players directly instead of having to get money from a third party (collective).
Deals worth $600 or more will have to go through a center, but deals worth less than $600 will still be possible.
For 2025–26, schools will be able to spend no more than $20.5 million on their entire sports department.
Though each school will decide how to spend the money on its own, most will give a big chunk to their two biggest sources of income: football and men’s basketball.
Coach Wren Baker, the sports director at West Virginia, spoke out about the settlement last night and let Mountaineer fans know that the school is in good shape.
“Now that the House Settlement has been approved, a new era in college sports has begun.” With the new College Sports Commission keeping an eye on things, schools can now share money directly with student athletes.
Athletics at West Virginia University has been working and planning for this day for a long time to make sure that our department is set up for long-term success.
We’ll have more news soon, but for now I want Mountaineer Nation to know that our history and role on the national stage are at the center of how we make decisions.
Under the direction of @theCSCommission, we will fully take part in revenue sharing because the House Settlement offers stability, fairness, and chance.
Today is a new day in college sports, and WVU will be set up in a way that allows them to keep fighting at the highest levels.
