West Brom on the brink of sacking Eric Ramsay just weeks into role amid relegation tension
Portsmouth now hold a five-point cushion over West Brom in the Championship table after Saturday’s impressive 3-1 victory against Millwall.
It marked another productive visit to London for John Mousinho’s side, who built on their midweek win over Charlton Athletic by seeing off promotion-chasing Millwall in convincing fashion.
Goals from Gustavo Caballero and John Swift put Pompey firmly in control early in the second half before Casper de Norre pulled one back for the hosts.

However, any hopes of a comeback were swiftly ended when Marlon Pack struck just three minutes later, sealing the win and sparking wild celebrations among the 3,000 travelling supporters.
While Pompey continue to edge clear of the drop zone, West Brom find themselves sliding deeper into trouble. The Baggies fell to their sixth defeat in nine league matches as leaders Coventry City secured a 2-0 win at The Hawthorns.
Pressure is mounting on head coach Eric Ramsay, who was appointed on January 11 but is still searching for his first Championship victory since arriving from Minnesota United. The defeat to Frank Lampard’s Coventry side has intensified scrutiny around his position.
According to talkSPORT, senior figures at the club are now weighing up Ramsay’s future just six weeks into his tenure. Doubts have grown after he failed to win any of his seven matches in charge across all competitions a run that includes a heavy 3-0 defeat at Fratton Park against Pompey in January.
Following the latest setback, West Brom sit just one point above Leicester City, who earned a 2-2 draw at Stoke City.
The mood at The Hawthorns turned sour at full-time on Saturday, with boos ringing out from the stands as the Baggies’ winless streak stretched back to December. Addressing the mounting pressure, Ramsay admitted he was fully aware of the challenge he had taken on.
“It was a high-pressure situation when I came in and it remains that way,” he said. “It hasn’t unfolded as ideally as I would have hoped, but I understood the circumstances I was stepping into. I knew results needed to turn quickly, and if they didn’t, scrutiny would follow.
“I’m not naive about that. My focus is staying present, ensuring the group keeps progressing and doing everything possible to push us forward.”
