’That’s blatant cheating’: Pompey and Ipswich give their verdicts after Fratton Park game postponement
Portsmouth’s Championship clash with Ipswich Town scheduled for this evening has been called off, prompting strong reactions from supporters of both clubs online.
Pompey confirmed the postponement after heavy rain overnight and throughout the morning left the Fratton Park surface waterlogged and unplayable.

It is the second time the fixture has been delayed this season, following a January postponement caused by a frozen pitch just hours before kick-off.
The latest delay arguably suits John Mousinho’s side, who were active on deadline day with three new signings arriving on Monday.
Although it was unclear whether the new arrivals would have been cleared to face Ipswich, Pompey were already facing the match without 11 players due to injury and other absences.
That context hasn’t been lost on home supporters, many of whom joked on social media that the postponement could work in their favour by allowing injured players more recovery time and helping new signings bed in.
Ipswich fans, however, have been far less amused. Some are now facing a third trip to PO4 this season, with frustration growing over repeated late call-offs and the costs involved.
As reactions poured in on X, Pompey supporters largely welcomed the delay, while Ipswich followers questioned how a fixture at this level could be postponed twice and called for greater accountability.
