Speculation Abounds That NY Rangers Will Trade Star to the Kraken During the Offseason
The upcoming summer is pivotal for the New York Rangers, as they may trade or release players during it.
One of the Rangers’ most valuable players, defenseman K’Andre Miller, could be leaving the team soon. Trade rumors have made Miller a hot topic, and the Knicks may decide to part ways with him as a result.
As a possible new squad for the defensemen, the Seattle Kraken are worth considering.
The Kraken missed the postseason this past season, finishing the year with a record of 35-41-6. Seattle has been pushing toward getting back to the playoffs, but they haven’t found much consistency on the ice.
One way to make that happen could be for the team to be aggressive in adding talent this offseason.
Seattle has plenty of cap space to work with, opening the door for a potential deal between the two sides.
According to Adam Gretz of Bleacher Report, an NHL writer, the two teams could be linked because the Seahawks have “some salary-cap flexibility,” a need, and a lot of draft capital coming their way in the next few years. If Miller were to join the Seahawks, he could become one of the best all-around defensemen and add offensive potential and mobility.
Even though Miller had a bad season last year with only seven goals and twenty assists, he could turn around the defense right away.
The star was on the ice for 2.78 goals every 60 minutes, which put them 50th out of 214 players who played at least 500 minutes. It’s possible for the defender to keep getting better, and Seattle could be a great place for him to play.
These guys have a lot of draft capital, so it’s possible that the Rangers and them could make a deal. Seattle needs to start making a run at the playoffs, and Miller could be the guy they need to do that.
The Kraken have missed the playoffs three times in a row, but this summer could be a chance to change the team’s course.
