Out of the Transfer Portal, South Carolina Acquires Alex Philpott, Right-Held Pitcher from Florida
Philpott becomes the seventh pitcher for South Carolina to come via the portal with his accession to the squad.
On Friday, South Carolina added Alex Philpott, a right-handed pitcher (RHP) and a former Florida Gators, via the transfer portal. This offseason, South Carolina Gamecocks head coach Paul Mainieri assembled a formidable transfer class.
A total of seven pitchers—six right-handers and one lefty—have joined the roster since the portal opened on June 2 with Philpott’s commitment to the teams.
For the past two years, Philpott has been a part of the Gators’ roster in Gainesville, Florida.
He will be eligible for two more years. Philpott started three games and appeared in thirteen as a true freshman in 2024.
He had a 6.90 earned run average, 2-2 record, and a.267 opponent batting average in his final game. In 30 innings of action, he recorded 28 strikeouts and 16 walks. In 2025, he had 22 appearances as a pitcher, three of which were starts, and he heard his name more frequently.
His stats were as follows: 3-4 record, 2 saves, 7.30 ERA, and.281 opponent batting average. Over the course of 37 innings, Philpott allowed 18 walks and 44 strikeouts.
With Philpott’s signing, South Carolina becomes the eleventh member of their roster to undergo a complete overhaul.
An elite portal class that is currently among the top five.
