HUGE UPDATE: Kevin Durant to Grizzlies Trade Report.

on

Many believe the Phoenix Suns will trade star forward Kevin Durant this offseason, though nothing is official just yet.

Despite having the biggest salary, the Suns failed to make the playoffs last season, going 36-46.

This summer, the Suns will likely make a number of changes, including parting ways with Durant, who has one more year left on his four-year, $194.2 million deal, following the sacking of head coach Mike Budenholzer after only one season.

The Memphis Grizzlies are among the several clubs who could be interested in trading for the star forward if Phoenix decides to pursue such a move.

Nevertheless, new information has emerged that might shed light on Memphis’ pursuit of Durant.

According to a recent claim by Forbes’ Evan Sidery, the Grizzlies are re-purchasing Durant in an effort to deal him, a move they supposedly made before the trade deadline in February.

As Grizzlies beat reporter Damichael Cole pointed out on X, the franchise is “not interested in trading for” the 36-year-old, so disproving Sidery’s allegation. “Per sources: The Grizzlies are not interested in trading for Kevin Durant,” X’s Cole stated.

“They contemplated an offer at the trade deadline, but they haven’t and don’t intend to engage on a trade for Durant this offseason.”

Even if the Grizzlies have already sent Desmond Bane to the Orlando Magic, they may keep being aggressive in the trade market and maybe even try to acquire Durant.

This past season, the Grizzlies went 48–34 and lost in the first round of the playoffs to the No. 1 seed Oklahoma City Thunder, despite having a strong start to the season.

Memphis, which is trying to get back on track as a West contender, might try to strengthen their roster this offseason, but they probably won’t trade for Durant.
