Huge blow for Wrexham and Wales as Kieffer Moore set to miss three games in play-off push
Kieffer Moore is expected to miss at least three matches during Wrexham A.F.C.’s Championship play-off push and is also considered a major doubt for Wales national football team’s World Cup qualifying play-off against Bosnia and Herzegovina national football team on March 26.
The striker suffered a hamstring injury during Saturday’s dramatic 4–2 extra-time defeat to Chelsea F.C. in the FA Cup fifth round. He subsequently missed Tuesday night’s 2–1 loss to Hull City A.F.C. at The Racecourse Ground, a result that left Wrexham sixth in the table.
Manager Phil Parkinson has declined to set a firm timetable for the striker’s recovery. Moore, who leads Wrexham’s scoring charts with 13 goals across all competitions, will be monitored over the coming days before a clearer picture emerges regarding his return.

Wrexham face three fixtures before the upcoming international break, and the 33-year-old appears highly unlikely to feature in any of them. The Reds begin with a Welsh derby against Swansea City A.F.C. on Friday night, followed by away trips to Watford F.C. on March 17 and Sheffield United F.C. on March 21.
Speaking about Moore’s chances of linking up with Wales after those games, Parkinson admitted the outlook is uncertain. He explained that more information should be available within the next week or two, but acknowledged that the forward is currently viewed as a significant doubt.
Providing further detail on the injury, Parkinson revealed that Moore initially felt tightness after appearing as a substitute in the FA Cup tie. Although he trained on Monday, scans later showed a split in the tendon rather than the muscle, an issue that can make recovery timelines difficult to predict.
Despite the setback, the Wrexham boss stressed that the squad has previously dealt with similar challenges and will look to respond again in the coming fixtures.
Parkinson has also been hit by additional injury concerns. Wing-back Liberato Cacace has suffered a setback in his recovery from a hamstring problem. The former Empoli F.C. player has endured an injury-disrupted campaign since arriving last summer and has already missed the last seven matches in league and cup competitions.
The manager admitted the latest development is disappointing for both the player and the club, noting that neither Cacace nor Moore are dealing with short-term issues.
Wrexham are also without midfielder Ben Sheaf for the remainder of the season after he sustained a medial ligament injury. Matty James remains sidelined with a broken toe, while fellow midfielder George Dobson is currently serving a suspension.
