How can West Brom escape the chaos and keep their championship status?

With each passing week, West Brom’s predicament grows increasingly bleak. They haven’t tasted victory since late December, and their manager is still searching for his first win after eight attempts. As things stand, Albion are spiralling towards League One at alarming speed.

The downturn this season has been sharp and unforgiving. Confidence among supporters is draining fast, with many now doubting whether a revival is even possible. It’s hard to argue otherwise the proof simply isn’t there. While there have been faint signs of improvement in recent performances, they haven’t been nearly enough to shift the momentum.

Costly errors persist, and nothing seems to be falling Albion’s way. They sit just one point above the relegation zone with 13 matches remaining, clinging to safety largely because of Leicester City’s points deduction rather than their own form.

Fellow strugglers Charlton visit next, in what feels like a defining moment for Eric Ramsay. Supporters sense it, the board surely recognises it, and Ramsay himself must understand the magnitude of the occasion. There’s even a scenario where a draw may not be enough to preserve his position.

So how do Albion escape?

Realistically, there appear to be only two paths to survival. The first involves Ramsay engineering a dramatic turnaround something that currently feels improbable. Not impossible, but he needs an immediate and emphatic response. Consecutive victories over Charlton and Oxford would be the minimum required to restore belief, both in the stands and within the dressing room.

If defeat to Charlton signals the end of his tenure, the alternative may be to place James Morrison and his staff in charge for the remainder of the campaign. Some fans would question that move, yet viable options are scarce.

The opportunity to appoint an experienced relegation specialist has likely passed and with so few games left, how many managers would willingly gamble with a relegation on their record?

Should it come to that, Albion’s survival hopes may hinge on Morrison and the existing staff reigniting pride and passion within the squad, tapping into the emotional core of the team to spark a late-season fightback.

For now, there remains a slim chance Ramsay can ignite that revival himself. But based on current form and belief levels, it’s increasingly difficult to see how that turnaround materialises.
