Eric Ramsay’s emotional final words after brutal sacking confirmed
West Brom have dismissed head coach Eric Ramsay after a 1-1 draw with Charlton Athletic at The Hawthorns stretched his winless league run to eight matches.
George Campbell ended the Baggies’ 405-minute wait for a goal when he headed them in front deep into first-half stoppage time. But Lyndon Dykes struck in the 70th minute to level for the Addicks, leaving Ramsay still searching for his first victory in charge.

The draw leaves Albion 21st in the Championship, just a single point clear of the relegation places.
Shortly after 11pm on Tuesday, the club confirmed Ramsay’s departure, along with assistant head coach Dennis Lawrence.
A statement read: “West Bromwich Albion have parted company with men’s first-team head coach Eric Ramsay.
“Assistant head coach Dennis Lawrence has also departed The Hawthorns.
“The club would like to place on record its thanks to Eric and Dennis and wishes them well for the future.
“First-team coach James Morrison will oversee first-team affairs on an interim basis.”
Speaking after the Charlton draw, Ramsay admitted the result felt like a setback. He said the team’s run of draws and lack of victories meant progress had stalled, stressing that wins — not stalemates — were required in their current situation. While he felt there were enough chances created to take all three points, he conceded the performance ultimately fell short and highlighted a lack of cutting edge in attack.
Ramsay added that, despite the disappointing run, the side had remained competitive in recent weeks and continued to fight, insisting there was no disconnect between himself and the players.
