Sheffield Wednesday manager to hold talks with Lincoln City
Sheffield Wednesday boss Henrik Pedersen has already begun mapping out plans for next season in League One after the club’s difficult campaign.
The Owls endured a historic early relegation back in February, capping off a season filled with challenges both on and off the pitch. Despite ongoing takeover discussions, the club has had plenty of time to turn its focus toward life in the third tier.
One side catching their attention is Lincoln City, who have emerged as a standout example of how to achieve success on a limited budget. The Imps secured promotion to the Championship in dramatic fashion with a late win over Reading, sealing a remarkable rise that will see them play in the second tier for the first time in 65 years.
Their achievement highlights a model built on efficiency rather than heavy spending something Wednesday may look to replicate.

With finances expected to be tighter next season, Lincoln’s approach could provide a valuable blueprint for the Owls as they aim to bounce back. Pedersen has already taken steps in that direction, confirming he plans to speak with Lincoln’s sporting director, Jez George, in the coming days.
He explained that learning from others will be key, noting that while Lincoln are eager to understand the Championship, he is equally keen to gain insight into League One. He praised their achievements this season, stressing the respect they deserve for what they have accomplished.
Pedersen also indicated he intends to hold further discussions with other figures in the game, believing that a deeper understanding of the division will give his side a stronger chance of success.
Looking ahead, League One is shaping up to be highly competitive next season. While some have questioned the overall quality of the division this year, results suggest a tightly contested league where margins are small.
Points totals for play-off positions may be lower, but survival could require more consistency, underlining the competitiveness across the board.
Sheffield Wednesday could also face strong competition from other big clubs, with Leicester City among those at risk of dropping into the third tier.
If that happens, financial pressures could add another layer of intrigue, but the battle for promotion is likely to intensify as more teams push aggressively for a return to the Championship.
