‘Absolutely ridiculous’ – Simon Jordan hits out at Ipswich Town decision
Ipswich Town were drawn into an unexpected political storm on Tuesday after images of Nigel Farage visiting Portman Road surfaced online.
The Reform UK leader posed with a customised shirt bearing his name and the number 10, and also shared a tongue-in-cheek image suggesting he had signed for the club, following what was described as a short, 30-minute stadium tour. Reports indicate the visit was arranged privately through Portman Road Events rather than directly via the club.
The situation has prompted widespread criticism and raised uncertainty over whether the club had prior knowledge of the visit.
With Ipswich firmly in the promotion race, sitting just two points behind Middlesbrough with a game in hand, the timing of the controversy has only intensified scrutiny.

Speaking on the matter, Simon Jordan questioned how Farage was able to film and use the stadium in such a manner, suggesting the lapse could frustrate CEO Mark Ashton.
He argued that stronger oversight should have been in place to prevent the venue being used for unintended purposes, while also dismissing claims that the club had any political alignment as overblown.
The incident may also have unsettled members of Kieran McKenna’s squad, with reports indicating some players were unhappy about access being granted to areas they consider off-limits.
As Ipswich push for an immediate return to the Premier League following last year’s relegation, concerns remain that the distraction could disrupt momentum. The club currently sit third, trailing league leaders Coventry City by 11 points, with the battle for the second automatic promotion spot still tightly contested.
Attention will soon shift back to on-field matters, with a home fixture against Birmingham City scheduled for April 6.
Regardless of any direct impact on performances, the episode has highlighted potential gaps in internal communication. At a critical stage of the campaign, the backlash from supporters risks creating an unwelcome distraction as the club looks to maintain focus in the promotion run-in.
