Exclusive: Ipswich Town secure agreement for Ex-Manchester United and Tottenham Man
Ipswich Town have reached an agreement with highly regarded scout Peter Braund, according to sources who spoke to Football Insider.
The former Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United talent spotter is expected to take up a role as head of European recruitment with the Championship side.
Braund, 59, is currently based in Germany and is preparing for a return to English football for the first time since 2022. His arrival would come as Ipswich continue shaping their recruitment strategy while pushing for an immediate return to the Premier League.

Who is Peter Braund?
Braund has built a strong reputation within football’s scouting network over the past two decades.
He first moved into scouting in 2000 with Manchester United, where he spent six years during the era of legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson, helping the club identify and recruit a number of promising players for Old Trafford.
After leaving United in 2006, he moved to Germany and became chief scout at Hannover 96, holding that role between 2007 and 2010.
Braund later returned to Manchester United in 2010 and stayed with the club until 2017 before taking up a scouting role with Tottenham Hotspur, where he worked for five years.
Since leaving Spurs in 2022, he has had short spells with Aarhus GF and Grasshopper Club Zurich, before heading back to Hannover 96 in 2024.
Ipswich preparing for the Premier League?
Should the deal be finalised, bringing Braund to Portman Road would represent a significant boost to Ipswich’s recruitment structure.
His extensive experience and connections across European football could help the club uncover emerging talents who may previously have gone unnoticed.
That could prove especially important if the Tractor Boys secure promotion this season. Ipswich currently sit just three points behind second place ahead of their clash with Leicester City on Saturday, while also holding a game in hand on Middlesbrough.
Even if automatic promotion proves elusive, Ipswich would likely enter the playoffs as one of the strongest contenders to secure a place in the Premier League.
If they do achieve promotion, Braund’s appointment could become even more valuable, as the club would have greater appeal in the transfer market and more resources to strengthen their squad for life back in the top flight. ⚽
