Double shut down!!! As Ohio state football recruits Five star Defensive and Brady Edmunds
There was an abundance of top-tier talent at Ohio State’s first summer recruiting camp.
Among the day’s highlights was Brady Edmunds, a quarterback recruit from California who will be spending the next three straight camp sessions with the Buckeyes.
Edmunds remarked after the training that competing with the other guys was a great
feeling. In terms of more specific coaching, I had the privilege of working one-on-one with coach Day and having conversations with coach (Billy) Fessler during each and every rep. It was fantastic.
Five-star 2027 defensive tackle Jalen Brewster arrived in Columbus on Wednesday to tour the Buckeyes’ facilities and meet with Larry Johnson, but the No. 1 defensive lineman in the country also wanted to get some work in at the Buckeyes’ recruiting camp.
The6’3″, 302 lb. Texan looked every bit the impressive prospect during individual exercises. While Brewster did earn an offer from Ohio State in April, he was still eager to train with Johnson and show off his abilities. It’s reasonable to assume that the Buckeyes will make him a major priority during the 2027 draft. Just so you know, Brewster is 6-foot-3 and 302 pounds, so he scored four rushing touchdowns in high school football in Texas last season.

That should give you some idea of how athletic he is. One more camp sensation was 2027 linebacker Jalaythan Mayfield, who garnered an offer from James Laurinaitis in March after being rated four stars. Based on 247Sports’ composite rankings, North Carolina native Mayfield is regarded as the No. 166 prospect and the No. 10 linebacker for the 2027 class.
On Thursday, the 6-foot-1, 215-pound linebacker—who has received over 20 offers from Division I schools—displayed his natural agility, pass coverage skills, and meticulousness during practice.
