Speculations about John Force’s Potential Comeback to NHRA Funny Car Racing
On Monday, NHRA Funny Car leader Jack Beckman put an end to a notion that had been circulating at New England Dragway over the weekend: that famed drag racer John Force will return to Virginia Motorsports Park, the site of his crash on June 23, to compete.
After that high-speed crash, the 76-year-old Force was diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury; since the 2024 autumn Las Vegas race, he has been a regular on the NHRA sidelines as he recovers.
Speculation recently circulated that Force would conduct testing the day following this weekend’s event in Bristol, Tennessee, before competing in the Dinwiddie, Virginia, event on June 21-22. Certainly not the case.
The source of that is unclear,” Beckman stated. Up until this very moment, I had no knowledge of anything similar.
“To be honest, I would be surprised,” stated Tyler Crossnoe, VP of Virginia Motorsports Park.
