While officially visiting an SEC rival, an LSU wide receiver commit reveals the date of his final choice.
On July 4, LSU football commit Kenny Darby will announce his college football team’s official affiliation.
This past weekend, the four-star wide receiver went on an official visit to Alabama. On June 21, he will travel to Baton Rouge. Despite not formally changing his November decision, he is still weighing the two colleges.
“I love the coaching staffs a lot,” Darby said. “It’s going to be hard.”
In addition to Darby, the top-ranked 2026 class at LSU also includes wide receiver Tristen Keys (five stars) and Jabari Mack (four stars).
If he were to switch to the Crimson Tide, he would join Jakai Anderson and the other pass catchers who left the group when Anderson switched to SMU.
Darby would become the second in-state commit to transfer if head coach Brian Kelly’s staff is unable to retain him.
Louisiana is the ancestral home of both Darby and Anderson.
The Tigers’ trade of Darby to an SEC opponent would be devastating for a franchise that is dead set on retaining its finest homegrown players.

During the 2024 recruiting cycle, Alabama traded for Derek Meadows, a top receiver commit from LSU. By signing Darby, the Tigers hope to stave off that fate.
