LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Kentucky Wildcats have secured another key piece for their future under head coach Mark Pope, as Harlan County High School star Trent Noah announced his commitment to the program. The 6’6” shooting guard, a top-100 recruit in the 2024 class, chose Kentucky over offers from South Carolina, Baylor, and Stanford, giving the Wildcats a dynamic scorer with deep-range shooting ability.

Noah, a four-star prospect according to 247Sports, averaged 29.9 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game as a senior while leading Harlan County to the Kentucky Sweet 16 state tournament. His ability to stretch the floor with elite three-point shooting (42% from beyond the arc) and his physicality as a slasher make him an immediate offensive weapon for Pope’s system.

“I’ve dreamed of playing for Kentucky since I was a kid,” Noah said in his commitment announcement. “Coach Pope’s vision for how I fit into this team, along with the chance to represent my home state, made this the perfect opportunity. I’m ready to work and help bring success to Big Blue Nation.”

Noah’s commitment continues Pope’s emphasis on recruiting high-IQ, versatile players who excel in up-tempo, positionless basketball. He joins a 2024 class that includes fellow four-star guard Travis Perry and three-star forward Collin Chandler, reinforcing Kentucky’s backcourt depth after the departure of Reed Sheppard and Rob Dillingham to the NBA.

“Trent is a winner,” Pope said in a statement. “He’s a knockdown shooter, a fierce competitor, and a young man who embraces the pressure of playing at Kentucky. His work ethic and team-first mentality align with what we’re building here.”

Analysts believe Noah’s size and polished offensive game could earn him early minutes as a rotational wing. His commitment also signals Pope’s ability to keep top in-state talent home, a priority for the Wildcats’ new coaching staff.

With Noah’s signing, Kentucky’s 2024 class moves into the top 15 nationally, per 247Sports’ rankings. As Pope reshapes the roster, Noah’s development will be crucial in determining how quickly the Wildcats return to national p

rominence.
