Top wide receiver target with strong connection to Billy Napier’s coaching staff set to be hosted by Florida Gators
Now that the official visits phase of the offseason has begun, the Florida Gators’ 2026 recruiting class is beginning to take shape.
During that time, head coach Billy Napier has organized a number of recruiting events, the most recent of which culminated in the commitments of two players, three-star offensive lineman G’Nivre Carr and four-star safety Kaiden Hall.
There will be further formal visits, including that of a star wide receiver, this coming weekend. This Season, Could the Miami Hurricanes Surprise Anyone? time: -01:37
Making an effort to get to know each recruit is a top priority for the coaching team.
Those are absolutely necessary to get someone to commit. A commitment will be extremely difficult to obtain if your relationship is not strong.
With whom they have developed a strong relationship, the Gators are gearing up to host promising in-state wide receiver Somourian Wingo, who is rated four stars.
According to the On3 Sports Industry Ranking, Wingo—a Saint Augustine, Florida native—is the nation’s 168th-ranked recruit and 25th-ranked wide receiver.
The Vikings might benefit from his physical attributes, as he is 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighs 180 pounds. Wingo’s rapport with the coaching staff is expected. Billy Gonzales is a top-tier recruiter for the wide receivers, and in 2014, while coaching the Alabama team, Napier was named ESPN’s national recruiter of the year.
On3 Sports, Wingo had the best prediction percentage at 40.8%, with Miami coming in second at 31%. Just one week after his visit to Coral Gables, he will make his sixth visit to Gainesville this coming weekend. Given the success of the Gators’ official visits, it would not be surprising if Wingo commits following his visit this weekend.
