Second commitment snatched by Gator from portal
Another 2019 commitment for the Florida Gators has been made. On Thursday, X, JUCO catcher AJ Malzone made his pledge official. Malzone attended Wabash Valley College for two years.
He stole thirteen bases, hit.347, and had 58 RBIs as a sophomore.
He also hit ten home homers. More times than he struck out, he walked 36 times. The Gators’ assault on the catcher market is understandable given that Heyman is almost certainly going pro.
The future of left-handed pitcher Pierce Coppola, who would open a spot for the Gators in next season’s starting lineup, is also uncertain. Additionally, the bullpen needs more consistent pitchers.
Given its dismal performance last year, it’s hard to think O’Sullivan will field the same team next year. Also, Jacob Gomberg, a lefty, has gone via the transfer portal.
