Jayden Sellers Chooses South Carolina: Gamecocks Land Explosive Four-Star Guard

South Carolina basketball secured a major victory off the court Tuesday as four-star recruit Jayden Sellers announced his commitment to the Gamecocks. The 6’5” guard, ranked among the nation’s top 75 prospects by ESPN, chose head coach Lamont Paris’ program over finalists Alabama, Florida State, and Georgia, instantly boosting the future of a rising SEC contender.

Sellers, a dynamic playmaker from Millbrook High School (Raleigh, N.C.), brings elite athleticism and scoring versatility to Columbia. Averaging 22.1 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 3.8 assists as a junior, he’s praised for his downhill attacking, three-level scoring, and lockdown defense. “Jayden’s a program-changer,” Paris said. “His IQ, work ethic, and competitive fire align perfectly with where we’re headed. This is just the beginning.”

The commitment marks a pivotal win for Paris, who has aggressively rebuilt South Carolina’s roster since a surprise NCAA Tournament run last season. Sellers’ decision follows the Gamecocks’ signing of top-100 forward EJ Walker, signaling momentum in recruiting. “I trust Coach Paris’ vision,” Sellers told reporters. “South Carolina feels like home. I want to help them compete for championships and leave my mark.”

Analysts project Sellers as an immediate impact player for a guard-heavy lineup. His size and explosiveness fill a critical need on the wing, complementing All-SEC standout Meechie Johnson. With Sellers’ arrival in 2024, the Gamecocks aim to bolster their tempo, defense, and perimeter scoring in a loaded SEC.

Fans erupted on social media, flooding posts with “Spurs Up” emojis and championship aspirations. Sellers’ pledge also reinforces South Carolina’s growing reputation as a destination for top talent. “This isn’t a fluke,” said recruiting analyst Travis Branham. “Paris is building something real, and Jayden’s the type of player who accelerates timelines.”

Sellers, the son of former NC State guard Justin Sellers, will join the Gamecocks next fall. His commitment adds fuel to a program hungry to prove its 2023 success was no anomaly. For South Carolina, the future just got brighter — and far more electric.
