In state Number 2 prospect to be hosted by Auburn Football tigers
At long last, Hugh Freeze and the Auburn Tigers’ coaching staff can arrange for the long-awaited visit.
Here is the official visit schedule of Anthony Jones, a five-star EDGE from Mobile’s St. Paul’s Episcopal School. On Friday, May 16, Auburn will host his first visit to the Plains. Before visiting three additional schools in June—Texas A&M (June 5), Oregon (June 13), and Alabama (June 20)—he will visit Miami on May 30 to cap out the month.
The Recruiting Prediction Machine on On3 says that Alabama and Auburn are both in the running to sign Jones. Alabama is more likely than Auburn to get Jones (31.1%). Nevertheless, 247Sports believes that Auburn is the better team.
Last July, Tom Loy, a national recruiting expert for 247Sports, gave Jones a crystal ball that showed Auburn as the favorite. Jones personally says that Alabama is his “dream school,” but he thinks he can make a huge difference on defense for Auburn.
Jones recently talked to On3 about Auburn and said, “Like Alabama, I have been there over 10 times.” Auburn is great because of the people who live there. I feel very at ease on school because everyone is cool. I think I can also participate in their plan to make money. It makes me happy that they want to move me around.
Jones said he doesn’t want to make his decision public until after his official visits. He said it could happen as early as August, when high school football season starts. 247Sports says Jones is the No. 2 prospect in Alabama, behind Cederian Morgan, who is also being scouted by Auburn.
Jones is also the No. 3 prospect in the country for the 2026 cycle.
