Elliot Lee ‘appears petty’ following manager comments – Roberts
Former Wales forward Iwan Roberts believes Elliot Lee “comes across as petty” following remarks made after the midfielder’s loan switch from Wrexham to Doncaster Rovers.
Lee completed a deadline-day loan move to League One side Doncaster for the remainder of the campaign and spoke of his enthusiasm about working under manager Grant McCann.

The 31-year-old, who won promotion three times with Wrexham, said he was eager to play for a manager who made him feel valued after falling out of favour at the Welsh club — comments some have interpreted as a veiled criticism of Red Dragons boss Phil Parkinson.
Despite being contracted at the Racecourse Ground until 2027, Lee has not featured in a league match for Wrexham this season, having slipped down the pecking order following the club’s rapid rise.
Speaking alongside fellow former Wales striker Sam Vokes on the Feast of Football podcast, Roberts questioned Lee’s comments, suggesting competition for places had limited his opportunities.
Roberts pointed out that Lee was competing with players such as Nathan Broadhead, Lewis O’Brien and Josh Windass, and warned him not to damage his legacy at Wrexham after three successful years, especially with a potential return to the club still possible.
Vokes added that Parkinson has faced an almost impossible task keeping everyone satisfied as Wrexham continue to climb the divisions, noting that some players who helped fuel the rise have found it harder to adapt at higher levels, making January moves feel inevitable.
Lee was among 10 players to depart Wrexham during the winter window, with Paul Mullin and James McClean also leaving, while Parkinson moved to bolster his squad by signing Davis Keillor-Dunn, Bailey Cadamarteri and Zak Vyner.
Wrexham are back in action on Saturday when they visit fellow promotion contenders Millwall.
