Based on her observations in the past, Dawn Staley has reversed her previous stance on Caitlin Clark and now claims that the superstar guard possesses the qualities necessary to be the greatest player in WNBA history.
Based on her observations in the past, Dawn Staley has reversed her previous stance on Caitlin Clark and now claims that the superstar guard possesses the qualities necessary to be the greatest player in WNBA history.
“I would say Caitlin will go down as probably one of the best players to ever grace the league and she’s going to probably do it,” Staley told Maria Clifton. Compared to other top players, she will likely finish in half the time.
When you can shoot the ball like Serena can, her passing and court vision are unparalleled. She is a triple threat since she can also pass the ball. The ball is redirected by her.

A large guard, she is. Nobody knows. She is, in fact, six feet tall.
Her eyes are on you. No one is safe from her bullets. And I believe that a triple-double will be the norm for Caitlin because of the exceptional talent that surrounds her. Considering the star guard’s lengthy battle against the legendary head coach’s squad, this is not the first time Staley has showered Clark with compliments.
Staley had nothing but respect for the 23-year-old following 2024’s March Madness.

At the time, Staley said, “I want to thank Caitlin Clark for making our sport better.” “She did a lot for our sport, and it’s not over yet… “She’ll make the WNBA better too when she’s the first pick in the draft.” If you’re reading this, Caitlin Clark, you are one of the GOATs of our game! And we thank you.””
And while the relationship between the two has always been amicable, Staley admitted that losing to Iowa in 2023 was one she took personally, despite her length coaching career.
