Avalanche Team Hosts Underground Easter Egg Hunt for Charity—Finds Rare $50k ‘Golden Puck’ Donor

The Colorado Avalanche swapped sticks for baskets this Easter, organizing a covert charity egg hunt at a private Rocky Mountain ranch—with a twist. Players hid 10,000 hockey-themed eggs, one containing a 24-karat golden puck redeemable for a $50,000 donation to children’s hospitals. The event, kept secret to avoid crowds, ended with a local firefighter’s daughter discovering the grand prize in a faux snowbank.

“We wanted to give back… but make it *fun*,” said captain Gabriel Landeskog, dressed as the Easter Bunny. The hunt raised over $1 million, with sponsors matching the golden puck’s value. Attendees included families of frontline workers, who signed NDAs to keep the location under wraps. Goalie Alexandar Georgiev even staged a “goalie egg save” demo, deflecting chocolate eggs with his blocker.

Leaked footage of Mikko Rantanen hiding eggs inside a stuffed moose racked up 200k views on X within hours. The Avalanche’s charity arm confirmed the event was “100% real” after fans accused it of being an AI-generated hoax.
