£10m Sheffield United flop lands yet another club in remarkable globe-trotting career
A former Sheffield United striker who showed flashes of quality but lacked consistency is on the move once more.
Lys Mousset has secured another fresh start after being unveiled as the latest signing by Canadian Premier League outfit Vancouver FC, adding a new destination to his well-travelled career.
The French forward has experienced a journeyman path across Europe, with North America now marking his latest venture.
Mousset, now 30, began his career at Le Havre before joining Sheffield United in 2019 following their promotion to the Premier League, arriving from Bournemouth for a reported £10 million fee.

At his best, he impressed in a red and white shirt and finished as a joint top scorer, but his time in South Yorkshire was heavily disrupted by recurring fitness issues.
During his spell at the club, he was also fined £5,000 and handed a six-month driving ban after crashing his distinctive orange £350,000 Lamborghini Aventador into two parked cars on Abbeydale Road in Sheffield.
Following relegation, Mousset departed having made 53 appearances and scored nine goals. He joined Salernitana on loan in 2022 but managed just six appearances without finding the net.
A subsequent move to German side VfL Bochum proved equally unsuccessful, as he failed to feature. Sporting director Patrick Fabian later expressed frustration upon his release, admitting the club had given him multiple opportunities without return.
After spending more than a year without a club, Mousset resurfaced in February 2025 with Bohemians in Ireland. However, ongoing fitness concerns limited his impact, and he left the Dublin club by mutual consent just five months later.
He now faces a new challenge in Canada, where he aims to play a leadership role within a young Vancouver FC squad.
Mousset has stated his intention to contribute both on and off the pitch, helping guide younger teammates while striving for success as a team.
Vancouver begin their season against Halifax Wanderers on April 4, with Mousset still working towards full match fitness after missing much of pre-season. He acknowledged he is building sharpness gradually and hopes to be ready to contribute early in the campaign.
